Halloween is just around the corner. Here are five terrifically terrifying tips for things to do in Dunoon.
Jittery and literary. Check out Bookpoint’s range of blood-curdling books. There’s loads of great activity books for kids, from Halloween crafts to Halloween baking. The Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine is scarily good for older teenagers. Or for something more grown up, delve into the adult thrillers.
Petrifying pumpkins. Pick up a pumpkin from Rae’s Fruiter & Florist on Argyll Street and carve yourself a lantern. Or for something more traditional, try carving a turnip instead.
Trick or treat? Treat for course! Step into Caramiche Chocolaterie on Argyll Street for some devilishly delicious hand-made chocolates. How about some Witches Cauldrons? These chocolates are rich and dark, and with a hint of chilli and a dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg, they’ll ward off any unfriendly spirits.
Creepy costumes. If you’re after a spooktacular Halloween outfit then pay a visit to Walker’s chamber of horrors – if you dare! It’s packed with every scary costume conceivable, from ghosts to witches, skeletons to monsters. Accessorize with bats, cats, spiders and rats. And if you’re planning a party, you’ll find some dastardly decorating ideas, with banners, lights and sound- and motion-activated terrifying toys. You’ll also find a great selection of Halloween outfits at Toytastic on Argyll Street.
Witches’ brew. It’s time for some hair-raising Halloween fun. There will be plenty going on in the pubs, bars and restaurants of Dunoon this weekend. Just don’t look back…
