The Boat House

Breakfast, lunch, cakes and coffee — all served with a waterfront view.

Right on the West Bay promenade, and just a few minutes’ walk from the ferry, The Boat House is a much-loved café bistro with views of the Firth of Clyde filling every window. From the moment we open, pop in for a cooked breakfast, a relaxed lunch, a slice of homemade cake or locally made gelato. Sit indoors in the bright bistro or outside at our seafront tables, watching the boats go by.

Everything’s freshly prepared, with home baking always on the counter, speciality coffee, a children’s menu and gluten-free options — plus takeaways if you’re carrying on along the prom. Rent our mini-golf equipment for a round by the sea, a firm favourite with young families, or set off on foot or by bike straight from the door.

Walk along, grab a window seat, and watch the Clyde go by.

Highlights:

  • The view: indoor and outdoor seating right on the waterfront.
  • The food: homemade cakes and baking, breakfast and lunch, speciality coffee and locally made gelato, plus a children’s menu and gluten-free options.
  • The building: one of Dunoon’s most distinctive landmarks, a Scots Baronial boathouse tower designed by celebrated Glasgow architect David Hamilton in the early 1820s.
  • For all the family: rent mini-golf equipment and play a round beside the sea or walk along the prom to the large West Bay play park.
